That's a real unlock. It's also the moment the trust question stops being theoretical. An agent that can move money needs to know who it's transacting with — before the transaction clears, not after it's been disputed.
The verification layer
SAID provides that check. For any counterparty, an agent can read:
- Identity status — is this agent registered and verified, or anonymous?
- Trust tier — where does it sit relative to the rest of the network?
- Reputation score — derived from real on-chain interactions, not self-reported claims
It's the same question every human payment rail answered decades ago — who am I paying? — applied to a world where the parties are autonomous software settling value at machine speed.
Why now
Autonomous payments without a trust layer just relocate the risk. As more agents gain the ability to transact on their own, the difference between an accountable economy and a market full of anonymous bots comes down to whether identity and reputation are verifiable on-chain.
